Our view is that for most people out there, a blog is the best way to go for search engine optimization. Blogs are usually simple to integrate into your website, simple to edit and most importantly indexed by search engines well. One of the most important aspects of having a blog is having quality blog posts, and keeping consistent in the frequency of blog posts written. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when writing blog posts.
- Write for a reader. Do not make the focus of your posts tons of keywords. While it’s great to have a lot of keywords, you still want your article to make sense to a set of human eyes before it makes sense to what you think search engines are looking for. The ultimate end goal for your site is to have content for USERS not search engines. Additionally most search engines can sniff out a post that is “too” keyword rich.
- Places for keywords. Its a good idea to try to get the majority of the keywords you are going to focus on in the title, alt and meta tags as well as in the e URL and the first paragraph. If you can land your keyword in these spots, you are in a better position to be indexed higher. You don’t need to use elaborate verbiage in these spots either.
- Keyword Variation. Most search engines index the term ” internet marketing” the same as “internet” “marketing” Keeping this in mind you can vary the way you display your keywords. Keep this in mind to keep the material fresh for your reader (back to #1), no one wants to read the term “internet marketing” 25 times in a blog post.
- Quality over Quantity. We know that it takes a time to write blog posts, but the key thing is quality and consistency. If you think you can only write one good blog post a week, start with that. Don’t stretch yourself thin by writing a lot and then stopping after a short period of time. Organic SEO will take time to improve your rankings, but quality blog posts will get you to the top in time.
