Most SEO Companies Are Like Diets. Meet Todd.
For this particular story, we’re going to pretend that Todd is morbidly obese.
To help our friend Todd, we invited some “diets” to Lifted Logic and sat them down in our conference room.
All the most popular were there—Paleo, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Atkins… Our conference room was packed!
Each of these diets has their own “trick” or method that they propose to help our friend Todd get healthy. And they would argue with each other all day about which is best.
The problem with diets, like SEO, is… if it feels like cheating, it probably is.
These diets are like a lot of SEO companies in Kansas City, and all over the country.
They each have their own “trick” or method they use to help your site get found.
And they would argue with each other all day about which is best.
Lifted Logic has tried to find truth in the middle.
In the sense of our metaphor, what we do every day is filter out the tricks and the gimmicks and get down to basic best practices, which experience a lot less change than some would have you believe.
We ask Todd, “How much do you exercise?”
The answer from Todd, of course, is “very little to none.”
So we suggest to Todd he walk a mile a day, or 10,000 steps.
Then we ask, “How many sodas do you drink in a day?” His response? 1 can.
So we suggest he switch out his 1 can of soda per day with water.
Then we ask, “How many tacos do you eat in a day?” He just says, “a lot.”
So we suggest he switch those out for fruits and veggies.
Now, for the million dollar question. Who in this room can argue that’s not going to be healthier?
In reality, best practices haven’t changed all that much. While one diet (SEO company) may work for some, and another for others, the basis of their “health” component—better portion control, being cognizant of your daily intake, introducing exercise—is usually a shared concept.
Focus on creating good content regularly. Answer the questions your users have. Publish consistent blog posts and website updates, and upload original writing and pictures. Who would argue that’s not going to improve your website?
By providing users with a positive experience no matter what, you won’t need to worry about taking the long way around with tricks and hacks, nitpicking what you think “Google wants.” You’ll make life easier for you and your staff, and get more quality leads from your site, every time.
