What do I do with a history major?

If you’re wondering what you can do with your history degree, I have good news and bad news. 

Let’s start with the bad news: Lifted Logic is not hiring historians. I know, that sucks. 

Now for the good news: Lifted Logic and other digital agencies in Kansas City are hiring smart and curious people who are good at writing, research, teamwork, project management, communication, and any other skill that would make you good at creating amazing work for our clients. 

Yes, your history degree is useful to us!

History majors are trained to recognize and understand patterns in human behavior, and to adopt a big-picture perspective that can help contextualize and make sense of our current times. The job of a history major at Lifted Logic isn’t “doing history;” it’s performing the sort of thinking that history-minded people tend to do. That’s you! 

So while we might not (yet) be able to use your deep knowledge of neoclassical influences on post-revolutionary French fashion or the indiginous philosophies of Mesoamerica, we can use your sharp intellect, your critical eye, and your verbal acuity to enrich our teams and the work they do!  

That said, your history degree doesn’t define you. We know that.

It’s not that we don’t care about your history degree (we do, and we think it’s cool). And it’s not that we don’t think you’re smart (we do, and we can’t wait to meet you). It’s just that we know that your academic degree is just a small part of you. 

We don’t care what you bring to Lifted Logic as a history major. We care what you bring as you–your skills, your passions, your interests, your approach–you know, the big-picture you. We may not need your knowledge of indiginous Mesoamerican philosophies, but the mind that’s interested in that? Yes please. Sign us up.
