DESCRIPTION

Introductory position responsible for learning industry best practices, writing website content, writing and posting blogs when necessary, creating social ads and newsletters, and completing any other miscellaneous content work for ongoing clients.

You will work with clients to establish their voice and write SEO-optimized content for their existing website. You will work directly with clients, project managers, and colleagues within the content department to ensure websites are filled with accurate, precise, SEO-friendly content. Projects may include informational websites, websites with complex functionality, e-commerce websites, and web applications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Create content outlines for new website build projects
  • Write and post blog and other web content on behalf of clients, ensuring all best practices regarding technical SEO are implemented
  • Create and schedule client newsletters/”e-blasts”
  • Edit client writing for grammar, syntax, voice, and tone
  • Conduct keyword research and optimize all content for SEO
  • Write video scripts for photo/video department to be recorded by professional voice-over artists
  • Assist with any content department overflow
  • Meet with content strategist to review upcoming project requirements, client Analytics, and other important topics
  • Collaborate with other members of content team on project strategies, writing workshops, and other training exercises
  • Adhere to all client brand guidelines regarding voice and tone

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of writing mechanics, including grammar, syntax, voice, and tone
  • Comprehension of principles of storytelling
  • Knowledge in word processing programs, including Microsoft and Google products
    • Either:
    • Proven self-taught writing abilities (Assessment required);
    • Degree in English, Creative Writing, Communication, or other related field; or,
    • 1 or more years of professional writing or marketing experience
  • Willingness to collaborate with content and other departments and receive constructive criticism
  • Knowledge of technical & content-related SEO practices a plus
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms a plus (Constant Contact, MailChimp, or equivalent)
  • Awareness of UX principles a plus
